Family-owned Mittelstand firms build the foundation of the German economy. But how do these firms work? Which unique challenges and opportunities do they face? And how do they combine innovation and tradition? The Family Business Club @EBS provides an exciting new arena to bring together EBS students with family business practitioners and researchers to find answers to these questions.
Organized by SITE members Prof. Dr. Matthias Waldkirch, Christoph Schneider & Hanna Zedler, the first Family Business Club @EBS meeting took place on April 28th. EBS students had the opportunity to discuss family business topics and the question of how to innovate in such a traditional industry with fourth generation member Aurelia Hamm of the local winery Weingut Hamm. Topped with a small tasting of Aurelia’s wines, the Family Business Club @EBS provided great insights into how family firms work: “It’s exciting to hear about different types of companies and their challenges”, said one EBS student after the meeting. The Family Business Club @EBS will meet regularly from next semester on and invites both students and practitioners to their meetings.
